Ceren Oner
Senior Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant
Team Lead
My Journey
My name is Ceren, I am currently a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant.
Before becoming a consultant, a Canadian citizen, I was also an immigrant.
I came to Canada at the end of 2016, accompanying my husband who was an international student at a college in Toronto, Ontario. I was holding an open work permit and it took me 2 months to find a skilled job to start accumulating Canadian experience. When my husband graduated from the school and obtained his one-year post-graduation degree, he immediately applied for a post-graduation work permit. It was quite challenging at that time as the renewal of my work permit was tied to his permit and he was expected to find a skilled job immediately so that I can continue with my job on a legal status. After attending so many interviews, he did find a position at a reputable company in the field of accounting.
Then after completing one year of Canadian experience in Canada, my points for Express Entry were looking bright and I became the primary applicant for our permanent residency application and this time my husband was accompanying me on this application. I got the invitation to apply for PR in April 2018 and we were confirmed as permanent residents in January 2019. Then we took oath for Canadian citizenship in late 2021. So our whole journey to get our passports took about 5 years.
It was the most wonderful, challenging, exciting 5 years of my life !
Having a Canadian dream is best only if you are open to change and go out of your comfort zone.
